And the Battery's Down... 120-130 1967

Hello All:

1967 Volvo 122S Wagon. "What now, Pucillo?" I hear you asking. Or maybe that was Wendy.

At any rate, a very cold snap last week sapped my battery just as I was getting Virginia running again. I know it was the cold because my friend's Porsche 912 parked ten feet away also would not start, and he has a VERY trick battery. I pulled mine, hooked it up to a charger and was able to start it, but needed a jump for several days to get anywhere.

Several days later the problem seemed to go away. I assumed it was due to Wendy driving Virginia every day, giving her just enough charge to get over the threshold.

However, last night, I had to move Virginia. She started like a champ. I warmed her up, and drove her about one-quarter mile down the road to a parking spot. On this brief drive I noticed that as I was applying gas the lights were brightening and dimming in correlation with engine speed. This is a new condition. I parked the car, noticed that I was a little too far from the curb and decided to restart. Guess what happened?

The amp and other lights come on, but the car would not turn over. I needed to move the car again this morning and I was able to get a jump to get her started.

I bought this battery brand new last winter. Theories?

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo
