M410 in older 1800 1800

I've located an M410 tranny out of a 73 ES that I'd like to put into my 67 1800s. I'm told I'll have to remove some of the transmission "tube" from the underbody to get it to fit. Has anyone done this? How did it work? Also, will the drive shafts that fit my old M41 need to me modified? Thanks ...
