Thermostat didn't fix cooling issue. At a loss.... 200 1984

A couple weeks ago I posted a message regarding a temp guage that rises normally at cold start but keeps moving up toward the red. This was after draining the coolant and changing the coolant temp sensor and sendor. I got many prompt responses (thanks!) saying that it sounded like a bad thermostat. This weekend I replaced the thermosat with a brand new one and the problem persists...

So I'm not sure as to where to look next.

When the car (water cooled turbo) was running I tried squeezing the upper rad hose quickly as one reply had suggested (to burp out air pockets.) I tried it with the expansion tank cap both tight and loosened. When I did it with the cap loosened, coolant would splash out. Does this confirm the radiator is unclogged?

Or does this sound like a failed water pump? I replaced the alternator mounts at the same time as the coolant sensor and sendor--the old mounts were pretty badly worn--could this be affecting the performance of the water pump?

Any ideas appreciated!
Corey
