Weak Spark 200

My 87 240 wagon will not run (no spark) I have replaced the distributor, hoping the Hall Sensor was the culprit. The spark off of the coil wire is very weak. It will only jump a maximun of about a 1/16th of an inch to ground. If you hold the lead any farther than that from ground, it will not jump to ground. I noted on another running 240 that it would jump an inch or more.
Wished I knew how to troubleshot that ignition system from battery to spark plugs.
