My 1987 740 GLE Wagon with 375k on it thats starting to worry me. Lifetime Texas car, now living in Buffalo NY - has always started and run fine (with some "character", as you might expect in a car with this kind of mileage). Two weeks ago, I noticed after about 15 minutes of driving, the car started to lose power randomly--pushing the gas and it was like the fuel cut off. The car didn't die, just wouldn't accelerate properly. Very jumpy - sputtering acceleration that comes and goes. Made it to work, went out at lunch to fill the tank, hoping maybe there was something in the fuel line. On the way home, again after about 15 minutes of driving the same thing happened. The next day it was fine - no problems at all.
Then one week later, the same problem came back - jumpy, sputtering acceleration, seemingly totally at random. Cleared up on the way home. After a few days it came back again, and it was doing this yesterday and this morning, and cleared up this evening on the drive home.
Its possible this is a moisture-related problem, since the first two times it happened, there was rain and the last two days have been rather snowy. Any thoughts?
