Hi all,
I finally decided that I have had enough of my stock volvo sound system. Sometimes I had to drive with my hand on the volume of the radio if I wanted to get any sound at all. So I bought a new CD player and 4 new speakers. Nothing fancy, just some basic stuff. I got the CD player at Best Buy and they run a deal that if you pay more than $100 for a system, they install it for free. I called to make an appointment for the installation and I got the feeling after talking to the guy that this so-called free installation will turn out to be not so free. I have to buy the wiring harness and a mounting kit, which is fine. But, should I buy these items from Bestbuy, or is there a better place to buy this stuff. Also, when I talked to the guy and he asked me what sort of car I had, I told him a 1994 940 volvo wagon. His response was, "Oh, those could be difficult. It might be extra for that type of install." Surprise, surprise. He said something about an amp or pre-amp that makes it difficult. So, I am thinking of forgetting about the "free" install and doing it myself.
I went to the Crutchfields website to look at there install guides. It's pretty clear for a basic install. But, I was wondering if there was anything "Volvo specific" that I needed to know.
Many thanks to all!
