Radio Problem 900

Greetings to all,

I have a '91 940 Turbo with the factory CR-814 radio.

Here is the problem. The speakers make a bone-jarring buzz anytime that I turn the radio on. I have tried replacing the amp (3533004)and that seemed to modify the bone-jarring buzz, but not eliminate it. Recently, I unplugged the amp and turned the radio on. At first there was no noise at all, then the radio began to make an intermittent popping noise. The "popping" noise gradually increased in frequency until the "pops" turned into a continuous buzz, albeit not quite a bone-jarring one. I have also replaced the stereo unit, which didn't make any difference. One more thing, I seemed to have misplaced the security codes for the radios and so all of this noise is coming out while the stereo face reads "cod." I guess it's possible that the noise is the diabolical design of Volvo engineers to destroy the eardrums of any radio thieves, but I kind of doubt it.

Any ideas?
