940 1992 speedometer/odometer problem 900 1992

Hi,
I have a problem with the spedometer/odometer in a 1992 940, I took the dash out and installed it again and it worked for one hour but only at speeds less that 35 mph , if I drove the car faster the needle would fall to zero and the odometer stopped. Then it stopped working completely again.
Any suggestions?

How fast I am driving if I am in the highway driving at 4000 rpm? 3000 rpm?
I supose 55/65 mph
I feel that I am not getting the tranny to switch from 3rd to 4th gear , could it be related with the speedo problem?(I am new to this car)
