No Start-Cold Weather 900

1992 940 Rex-Regina,201,000 just purchased. Left car at mechanics garage for inspection this am, in upstate NY., Temp. 20 degrees. Mechanic could not start car. He checked and found no spark. He used a heater to warm the engine bay, started right up. Once started runs fine and restarts thru the day.
Since I know nothing about Rex-Regina systems, where should I start to trouble shoot? Coil? Computer?
I checked the archives and most posts deal with no fuel or vacuumn leaks.
Any thoughts and suggestions welcome.Thanks in advance.
