I'm trying to replace the rear springs on my 86 244 with used wagon springs. I have the replacement springs, complete with the D-shaped lower retainers. The problem is that the lower retainer bolts from my car are spinning free and I can't get the nuts off.
What I've tried so far is cleaning up the threads below the nuts, applying WD-40 to the nut, and then putting a big coating of JB weld epoxy over the top of the flat bolt head. Hopefully, when the epoxy has fully cured, it will keep the bolt from spinning and I will be able to remove the nuts.
Two questions; How long to let the epoxy cure? What to try if that doesn't work?
