Steering problems: Update/Possible solution 700

Here's my most recent post on this subject, back in Dec 2004: RWD - HELP NEEDED! Steering problem

I was scanning Turbobricks last week and ran across this post:

Hey guys. I was driving Mary's 1994 944T the other day, taking it to get the state inspection, and was VERY dissappointed by the way that it tracked down the road. What seems to be happening is that the front end follows every imperfection and crown, frost heave and pothole in the road. In fact, it is very disconcerting to drive, since it will move up to 2' in lane either way, depending on surface quality.
944T follows the road TOO MUCH! - Turbobricks Forums

This was almost an identical description to my problem.

I tried the suggestion of rotating tires and after a few trials it has seemed to help. I used to have Bridgestone Potenza RE930i 205/60 - 15's on the front and swapped them with Toyo (??) 205/60 - 15 from the back. The Toyo's are a much "squarer" (and noisier) as well have a smaller footprint (~6.5" vs 7") and I'm wondering if this is helping.

If I replace tires I will go back to stock 195's. But if your car tends to get "pushed around" on uneven roads and suspension/aligment checks out OK, consider the tires.
