No question here, just wanted to share what I just went through.
’93 945T. I replaced my exhaust system two or three months ago with IPD's sport exhaust, and with a new cat from fcpgroton.
So my car started squealing lately, but only when it drive. It sounded just like a loose belt but the second I put it in neutral or park, it’d stop, just to start right back up when I slipped it into gear. There was no slipping when shifting or anything.
Obviously I was concerned about this since automatic transmission work isn’t cheap. I took it to an transmission shop that I’ve used before, but who I knew didn’t work on foreign transmissions thinking that he would give me some honest advice since it wasn’t something he’d actually do the work on. Under the hood he heard nothing. When in the driver’s seat he heard it and went to the side of the car, fiddled with the exhaust system that I had installed myself a couple of months ago, and showed me a clamp that wasn’t as tight as it should be.
Whew! I’m not an expert on the price of fixing transmissions, but I’m pretty sure it’s more expensive than the price of a new clamp.
