89 240 wagon interior oil smell 200

I am considering buying a 1989 240 wagon. The car is very clean inside and out, engine compartment is also very clean. There is a strong odor of oil inside the car, not of burning, it smells more like you are in a service garage, like oily old rags. Could this be coming from the heater/ac? Thanks
