Hello,
A local Volvo guy has a '80 262C with a bad engine. He wants me to replace the engine. I have absolutely no experience with the PRV engine, but plenty of wrenching experience, mostly on 240's and my 780.
I assume his car has a B27F, and it would be much preferable to put the updated engine in there. Question is, should I look for a B28F or a B280F?
If I understand it correctly, the B27F and B28F used K-Jet, while the B280F used LH-Jet. Generally I'd prefer the newer design, but I am afraid that the B280F might have different sensor holes than the B27F, and I that could grow into a big headache. I have heard different stories on the cam oiling issue, some say it was solved with the B28F, others that it was only solved with the B280F.
So I have two questions:
- Is the B280F much better than the B28F, and worth considering?
- If it is worth considering, are there any issues with having different sensors?
Any other words of wisdom always appreciated!
Cheers,
Balu
