Ben and I are working on the Celery Wagon again and we pretty much have
it together and are trying to get it to run. We seem to have a problem
with overflowing HS6 carbs (which we also had with the same carbs on the
same engine a few months ago before we pulled the engine from the gray
wagon). I have put oversize throttle shafts into the carbs, after reaming
the shaft bores with a "P" reamer, and I put new float valves in them and
carefully set the float level. We got the engine to run but it would always
overflow the back carb, even after replacing the float valves with ANOTHER
new pair. At that time I concluded that it was an aftermarket fuel pump
putting up around 10 psi fuel pressure. We went ahead and pulled the engine
and put it in the celery wagon and now have it all hooked up and are using
a Pierburg pump. We got it to start briefly but it is now flooding and still
is overflowing the rear float bowl. I went out and bought a fuel pressure
regulator, and set it to 2½ psi and it STILL overflowed the rear float bowl.
So I set it lower and still have the same problem until I get it so low that
it won't feed gas at all. Meanwhile the battery is getting tired so I will
charge it all night.

Am I missing something here? I think I am doing all the right things but
it just isn't working.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated, especially by Ben - it is now his
car and he needs transportation.
