M46 re-assembly question 200

I am in the process of re-assembling my M46 tranny that I've had sitting on my workbench for several months. I'm at the point of installing the mainshaft back into the case to press the rear main bearing. My question is this, does the thrust washer go on the inside of the case next to the bearing on the mainshaft or on the outside of the case next to the bearing just under the snap-ring? Thanks.
