Auto to Manual Tranny Swap

I have a 1989 240DL auto that i would like to swap out to a manual tranny. The donor car I have is a 1982 GLT with a 2.1N/A motor & a M46O/D tranny. Is there any problems swapping to this tranny? Does the bell housing & flywheel fit? I know there were upgrades to this tranny around 1986. Would this affect me in a negative way on this swap?
