Driveline moan/vibration, worse during coastdown 200 1980

I'm trying to diagnose a loud low frequency moan and vibration (car is a 1980 245DL M46) - it's really bad between 50-55 MPH (in any gear or neutral), but it's noticeably worse when the car is coasting down as opposed to during accleration. I was able to measure the frequency of the noise/vibration and it matches the rotating frequency of the driveshaft, suggesting the driveshaft is out of balance, but I'm not sure why the problem would be worse when coasting down if it were just an out of balance driveshaft. The other hint is that this issue first cropped up right after I had the rear trailing arm bushings replaced 10 years ago and has gotten slightly worse over the years. I'm convinced the bushing replacement was done incorrectly since the classic pop/clunk never went away but I never did anything about it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
