740 timing belt 700 1990

My 740 just died on the Long Island Expressway today - and it wouldn't start.

The Highway patrol came by and said that my engine isn't getting any spark so I need to change a wire (pipe/hose?) that goes from ?? to the ignition rotor.

The towing guy also took a look at my car and said that my timing belt was gone - given by the fact that ___ wasn't moving inside the engine when I cranked it and it wasn't turning over.

What do you guys think? Battery is new, I just had it tuned a few months ago.

If I were to get a timing belt changed, what expenses am I looking at?
