Urgent trip ahead.. can the O2 sensor wait? 200

My friend's son is in the hospital and I need to travel about 220 miles to be with them. I leave tomorrow. Problem is that my 02 sensor was damaged when I replaced my catalytic converter on my '91 240 wagon. My check engine lite went on, and I'm certain that it's related to the damaged sensor.
I've only driven around town, perhaps 150 miles with the damaged sensor. It seems none the worse for wear. I will replace the sensor before the trip if necessary, but I'm really in a hurry to get to the hospital. I have the replacement aftermarket sensor ready to go.

Question #1 would it harm the engine to drive with the failed sensor?

My other problem is in the wires coming from the original sensor. It looks like two of the same white color wires and a black wire. Does anyone know if they are labelled somehow? I really didn't look too carefully, and with 54 year old eyes.. It's tough to see tiny differences in two light colored wires... if any. Help here would be appreciated..

Question #2 Are the two light colored wires the same, in other words any problem if these wires were crossed?

Thanks in advance. I appreciate any help.

Larry
