Fuel pump noise 200 1987

Just recently my 240 has been having a problem starting on the first attempt. Today I noticed that the fuel pump wasn't making any noise when I turned the key to the run position. Am I just imagining that it used to make noise when I turned the key to this position? The car starts fine on the second attempt and runs ok once it's warm. Thanks for the feedback.
