I have access to a running (junked) 240 manual, same year as my auto, '89.
I am debating salvaging everything I need to put the M46 in my car.
My experience should be very adequate having already done the rear seal (tranny removal on mine), head replacements, etc..
Here are the questions:
Other than the tranny, what else do I need to take?
- can I re-use the tranny fluid lines?
- torque converter, what about the flywheel, is it the same? Would I need the starter too, and would my RPM (crank position) sensor be still applicable?
- need the driveshaft?
- I have no clue about the clutch pedal assembly, never looked at this at all. Is it all easy to take out? What about instllation on mine?
Can I do all this while the car is on the street, ssumign it is high enough to get the tranny with bellhousing out?
Any advice would help, thanks. I looked through the FAQs and a quick search, but most topics are on 700 series.
