Hello All,
I had a small leak at the fuel tank that I fixed, but it turns out that my real leak is at the front carb. I was still getting the gas smell in the car after I got the tank fixed and had a look at the carbs. The fuel bowl vent on the front carb was dumping out a lot of fuel. Here's what I tried:
1. Look in horror as I rev'ed the engine and watched the precious fuel spill.
2. Changed all the fuel hoses, just in case (changed the clamps for fun).
3. Disassembled the front fuel bowl and discover the float metal tab was mangled by a ham-fisted mechanic.
4. Fixed the float.
5. Tested the float valve (tried sucking on the inlet and couldn't get it to seal) - replaced with good valve from my spare carbs.
6. Reset float height to the right level.
Fuel is still coming out of the vent...the second carb works fine and there isn't any fuel leaking out of it. What have I missed? I have a rebuild kit on the way, but there must be something else I'm missing.
Help.
