1987 760 gle idle in drive woes 700

My 87, gle, starts and idles ok, but when you place in drive the engine dies. I can hold in the brake and feather the throttle to get going and runs fine until stopping, then once again I can feather the break and throttle to keep it from dying. Have noticed that in park if I rev the engine over 5000 rpm it will momentarly cut out. Any thoughts ?
