Hi All,
Sometime ago I asked the question if there was anyone who has fitted power steering to a 120 series Amazon. A computer crash of the worst kind in January lost all my old info.
Reason is a medical condition where I am slowly losing the use of my hands and forearms - similar to myotonic dystrophy. A number of operations have failed to work, but that's the way it goes. Some poor souls have no hands, so I'm lucky and not complaining.
I have the opportunity to purchase an Amazon, finally. Have always wanted one.
Power steering is a must for me to be able to drive.
Read where a 140 series box can be fitted ( this was to a P1800 ), figuring a '64 120 Amazon ( B18 Engine ) to be similar. However, to be fair there aren't any of these units in my neck of the woods here in Australia. Perhaps in other parts of Australia, but a few phone calls haven't turned anything up as yet.
Also read where it might be possible to fit a power steering unit from a 160 series without too much drama.
I do have access to an engineering shop, the guys there have helped me out in the past to keep me driving, so any first hand information would be appreciated. Even though they have laughed at my Volvo fetish for a number of years, a 120 is sure to get them going ! Seriously though, if they have the info and the parts, their attidude is " can do "
Would really like to say yes to the owner of the car I'm interested in owning but need the information on this aspect before paying the money and making the commitment.
Thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing what can be done.
cheers
richo
