rack and pinion change 200 1993

I have a 1993 volvo 240 station wagon. I need to replace the rack and pinion. It is oosing out oil. Could I use a rack pinion taken from a sedan and also could a year that is different from 1993( say between 1986 and 1992) volvo 240 be used? How difficult is it to change for a weekend mechanic?
