NOx Issue with 1986 Volvo 240 DL and Mass Air Flow Sensor Replacement 200 1986

I own a 1986 Volvo 240 DL and I live in California, San Mateo. I have linked my smog test results and the repairs that were performed on the car from 2004. The door TAC actuator, O2 sensor, and cat converter were replaced. However, it still failed the NO emission, where the lowest reading were 3209ppm at 15mph and 2928ppm at 25mph. I applied and obtained the two year smog extension, which will end on Aug 12th 2006. I was able to drive the car without any trouble until this week. Right now, I have it at a car shop because the mass air flow sensor needs to be replaced.
My question is should I have the sensor replaced, which will cost $495 or donate the car since the car still needs to pass the smog test? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. I have not tried the method mentioned on this previous post to pass the NO emission:
