(I bought this car for 50.00) The lady said that she
took it to a local mechanic and he did a full engine
test. They used a sun diagnostic system test for it.
The previous owner changed three plugs " NGK" Crap plugs.
The # 1 plug wouldnt come out as she says. The mechanic
also couldnt take it out. The machine said that the compression
test one each cyl was all over 150, and that the #1 cyl didnt
have a strong spark and noted that the wire or plug was bad.
Also noted that the oxy sensor was not changing. Also they
said that the car was running rich and that the car was burning
oil really bad & the valve rings and seals need to be replaced,
The previous owner said that the car wouldnt smoke unless you
accell quickly, Also said that the car would stall out of the blue.

I did some looking at on the car myself being a volvo lover!
the plugs were gapped at 20 each one (book says 30 is correct)
I took the flame trap off and tons of rust colored dust came out.
I pulled the tube off after the amm and the inner was caked with oil
looking crap everywhere, the intake was really dirty greasy,
Could this just be a clogged breather type problem? Why would oil
spray end up in the intake tube? Would the Egr valve suck it up if
the flame trap was clogged? My vovlo buddy said that this 89 240 with
207k is to young to have valve ring and seal problems. The last owner admits
to not chaging the oil for 15k miles or so. What Should I do about this?
