To Spook, Jbowers, Living in the past and all other Brickboarders 900 1992

Hi all,

I have a 1992 965 with about 332.000km. This winter I had problems with coolant and oil loss, I posted Brickboard about it.

Two independant mechanics said they saw coolant coming out of the engine at the head-gasket, so it means it is either a leaking head-gasket or a cracked head. The oil leak is diagnosed too, however I don't know how to explain it in English (crankshaft bearings in the engine?).

Anyhow, considering the age and state of the car, I do not intend to have these expensive problems fixed (and other problems: PNP-switch, airco, rust, rear shocks, ...). Instead, I'm going to drive the car until it dies. And oh yes, I'm sad about that. This is my first car, and quite frankly it's a car that most people of my age do not want to be seen in here... big and boxy, you know. But I bought it really cheap, it served me for six years and it has a kind of luxury that I do not find in most other brands: lots of room, excellent seats, smooth ride.

In the meantime, I'm going to look for a decent alternative. The quest is hard, I'm afraid it ain't gonna be a Volvo again... due to not so great rankings in various surveys (it seems the Ford quality didn't go up, but the Volvo quality went down). I'm actually looking for a Lexus GS300.

This means I won't be visiting Brickboard again. I want to thank you all for helping me these past years. Keep up the good work.

Uturn2.
