power steering rack from car with 200k miles? 200 1992

is it advisable to pull a ps rack off a running car thats being parted out, assuming it appears to be working and not leaking? or is the ps rack one of those things you should always get new/rebuilt?

i just discovered that the passenger side boot on the ps rack is covered in what i am assuming is ps fluid. is there anyway, this could require anything other than a rack replacement?
