manifold gasket project tips solicited 120-130

I'm going to tackle putting in a brand new exhuast-intake manifold-gasket today I think.

1.) I don't think I need gasket sealant goop for this do I?

2.) What am I in for? Do I need to pop one or more of the throttle linkage ball-joints and pull the whole carbs assemblage, or is there a way I can undo all the main bolts and pull back the whole shebang to slip in the new gasket?

3.) Any tips appreciated!
