When did Volvo start building engines that would take unleaded?

Hi all,

Searched the archives and thought sure I'd find something, but nada.

My son has the idea that he'd like an Amazon. (I wanted him to get a 240, he howled "Not cool!", so this is a compromise).

I've done a good bit of research, and had found a couple of decent examples for sale in my area. Then it hit me: the leaded/unleaded thing. When were Volvo engines OK with unleaded?
