Coil Update ---- MPG increase? 200 1988

Last week I posted about my car stalling in the car wash (http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1068658) I decided tio get a coil. Something strange is happing now my mileage has gon up 6mpg from 26 to 31 and also for the past 6 months I was having a hesitation problem at least once a day. The car would hesitate coming off a stop sign or light.


Could a bad coil cause milage and hesitation problems?
