My local Volvo dealer comes through again - my a/c was not working or at best working intermittently (on my 1991 745 turbo with manual climate control) and their diagnosis was that I need a new a/c control unit and their price was $700 plus $86 labor. I find that from alloemautoparts.com I can get a new Programa unit for $287 and from FCP Groton a new genuine Volvo unit for $225. What gives here? Am I missing something? Is replacing one of these parts (with the three knobs on the front, two push buttons for recirc and a/c off) something a d-i-y-er like me can do?
Thanks for the input!
