'69 164 with plastic fan question 140-160 1969

I got the impression from an earlier post that the plastic fan in my 1969 164 could be trouble if I install A/C. Is that the case? If so, do I need to upgrade to a different fan? I don't remember the fan being a problem when they sold the dealer-installed A/C units in those days. What's the story? (if this helps: my '69 is an automatic, VIN #004196, and the A/C is a refurbed York unit that ran fine in another 164 before I bought it)
