Bridging amp to speakers -740 premie sound 700

I've got a 90 740T with the premium sound package 5.25" 4x door speakers (This has the ~2.5" mids in the back and the ~3/4" tweets in the front with the same woofers f/r, but different frequency limits on f/r. Essentially it's a 4-way system) . I'd like to be able to play my music louder occasionally with less distortion. (I have a slightly blown driver's front speaker, I need to find a replacement)

I'm thinking that if I take the output cable, splice it to another to duplicate the pre-amp and hook each set of L/R to an amp (I've got 25x4 now), I can connect both f/r post amp wires to the front or rear speaker sets and increase my amperage to the speaker. Each amp would them be providing bridged power for 4 speakers to 2 speakers. This would set up an amp for the front and the rear. I would have to find an identical amp to prevent issues with delays and mismatched phase and probably would end up replacing the speaker wire with larger gauge (it's 18-20 gauge now).
My theory is that this would supply enough power to keep my speaker under more control when a drum hits or something like that, and provide me with far superior bass. I think I would need to add resistance to my tweeters to keep my eardrums intact, as they handle more than the standard tweeter range.

Basically, is this a stupid idea? I see the possibility of severaly overdriving these speakers. It might be more convenient to replace with a new stereo, but I'm not about to drop 500$ into my stereo before my paint or my wheel bearings or other more critical item. Besides that, authentic volvo speakers are pretty darn nice.
