Head Gasket Testing? 700 1985

Ok gang. Seen 3 different tests to check for leaky head gasket.
1. Leak down test
2. Coolant pressure test
3. Exhaust gas sniffer at overflow tank.

Which is the best indicator? Pros/Cons?
Loss my heater core, what a mess. Saw where a leaky head gasket can cause heater core to go. Did the bypass, but before tackling the core(its summer). Don't want to replace the core if a leaky head gasket caused it.
