I just put the 88 765 less turbo back on the street for a long test drive with the additional electric cooling fans installed. We breezed through the vehicle inspection and the car is noticably more responsive than either of my other two N/A vehicles. There was also much less movement of the gas gauge during the across town (Charlotte) drive than when the turbo was on the engine, but I will have conclusive results by the weekend for that. The only thing that I have done is removed the turbo, plugged the necessary holes in the block, put on the 240 N/A exhaust manifold and married it up to the turbo exhaust. The intercooler was removed so I could get the radiator forward enough for my Chevrolet electric fan but that was not necessary. Same injectors, head, cam, AMM (which is the same as the 240 N/A), etc. just no turbo.
My thanks to Dave Barcomb for telling me about the mileage boost in his 760 when the turbo failed.
Regards,
