fabricating a 700 turbo intake hose...opinions please!!

Hello out there in brickland....I've got a welder friend that is going to try to make a stainless steel version of that nasty expensive intake hose, the garrett type, based on an old one that I've given him. At $170-$200 for the OEM and $130-$150 for an aftermarket that dealers tell you is a temporary replacement (?!?), I think this could be worthwhile. The ends will be left a little shorter so that rubber sleeves can be used to attach them to the airbox / compressor sides. The "U" shaped connection to the CBV will be rubber as well. I'm going to try to make a jig using a spare airbox and turbo to help him out.

I'd love your opinions / comments / wisecracks on whether or not you think we have a hope in hell, or if this is a really good idea that we could eventually share with other brickers for roughly the same price as a finite rubber hose.The variety of brickers and their accompanying skills would be invaluable to our mission: Boost! with no hose collapsing, exploding and wallet draining.

Any tips on where I could obtain peices that would make the rubber connections (especially the CBV piece) would be GREATLY appreciated!
