I had some carb trouble the other day (stuck float) so while I was in there, I opened up the H6 carbs to set them up from scratch again.
In doing so, I compared the needles to one another to make sure they hadn't been damaged.
Imagine my surprise when I found the front needle was about 1/8" longer than the rear needle! Further investigation showed me that the front jet is also longer; about 1/4" overall. There are no numbers, letters, or other markings anywhere on any part of the jet assemblies.
My question is this: is this right, or should I get a new, matching set of jets?
If the consensus is to replace them do we have a part number, source, approximate price, etc?
I have a stack of S.U. carbs, but none of them are H6's. Does anyone know if I can swap in a set of matching jets from another model number, or are the H6 jets specific?
I can get the car to run pretty good with the current jets, but I'm concerned that I may unintentionally cause a lean burn condition which would melt a piston. I also think this may be one contributing factor to my heating problem - and NO, I haven't located that spare aftermarket temp gauge yet.
