240s are really well designed for fender benders 200

Three months ago my father in law borrowed my 240 and hooked the front bumper on another car. I was really impressed with how the bumper cover popped off with no damage to the body or the bumper cover. I bolted the cover back on, and you can't tell it was ever hit.

Today my wife clipped the rear bumper of the same 89 240. She hit it quite a bit harder, and she connected with the aluminum bumper underneath. Again I was amazed how little damage was done. The cover popped off, and the aluminum bumper sheared off its mounts with no damage to the body, bumper cover or bumper mounts. Sure I need a new bumper, but I don't need any bodywork or paint. I am starting to realize that all those plastic trim pieces it thought were purely esthetic, are strategically placed to protect the body.

I wish the wifes Honda Civic fared as well. Its going to need bodywork and a paintjob from this little fender bender.
