965 headkight switch has me stumped.... 900 1997

Spent the day on the car, some small things like a new air filter, and reinstalling a "door" on the back of the left headlight.

Then came the headlight switch. I have a new Volvo switch, and a 960 green book that shows some of the area, but not all of it.

The "Precious Wood" trim overlaps the switch, like the matt over picture margins. The book says that the trim must be pushed out from the back, very carefully to avoid cracking it.

So how to get into the back of the dash switch panel? I could not find the way to do it. Seems like all the pieces are tight to one another, no screws or clips visible. There were two screws below the steering wheel, but removing them had no effect.

At least now I have a TX20 bit for my screwdriver.

Have you ever gotten into the dash / swtich panel on a 1995+ 960??

Driving in the daylight is OK. Driving at night without parking lights, dash illumination, or headlights is a little tricky. Uses the adrenaline. Fortunately the passing signal flashing still works, as do the Emergency flashers.

Perhaps the dash is like a late-model 940 dash. Any help there?

Thanks in advance.

Bob
