Hi. I have been reading posts from the Brickboard for the longest time,
but finally I registered as a user. I am going banana trying to figure out
what cluster I am supposed to use to match what was in my (only for six months)
244 1990. The original one was fried. You might find entartaining that the old owner's mechanic actually connected the "red and white wire" to the back of the speedo, where the cruise spade is supposed to go, if you have it.

The problem is: I need to find a K10042 cluster with the SRS setup, not an earlier one, I guess. Out of frustation, (I have bought two clusters already, speedometer still not working: i.e. it works for a mile or two, then quits).

I am now looking at a pretty cluster from '92, and the model is K40168, but is from a sedan 240 as well. I would rather use one from a sedan than a K9800 from a wagon, I know from experience, since my other brick has smaller tires, like a 244, and it racks up a good 20% more miles than it should (it also goes very fast, looking at the speedo...) so I don't want to repeat that in the sedan...

What are the side effects here switching to a 92 cluster? Is there something to do with the ABS? Is that why I can't use it? Are the wires all different, while the front looks exactly alike? If you can answer this you'll spare me another 50 bucks out of the window...

ALSO, the replacement one I've got, didn't have a bulb in the SRS location, and that little window (same location) turned out to be the 5th gear indicator light. Will the SRS still work with the wrong cluster (I guess that's only a warning light, though)

Any help would be much appreciated. I am so thrilled I am in this board now!
