Hi,
I have wondered this question for a while. Why is it that Volvo discontinued the day running lights that were common on the 240/260 and 740/760 Volvos. On these models the Day Running Lights (DRLs) were the 21 watt side light which was in the same position as the Parking Lights which run at 5 watts.
These day running lights (21 watt) I thought were an excellent safety feature and have always wondered why Volvo chose not to continue them on onto the 940/960 model Volvos. One could clearly see a Volvo comming with those nice clear bright side day running lights without them causing any glare to oncomming drivers.
I have always wondered why Volvo chose to discontiue them and not continue the day running lights into the 940/960 series Volvos. Does anyone know why? I think they are more effective than dimmed headlights.
Position O: Headlights off - Day Running Lights (21 watts) *DRLs could be turned off by removing DRL fuse*
Position I: Parking Lights (5 watts)
Position II: Headlights
Regards,
Peter.
