proper clutch pedal 'feel' & height 200

I have only owned my '88 5 speed (M47) wagon for a few months. I recently installed a new clutch along with related parts. I'm not sure what is right, though it maybe subjective. To me the clutch pedal feels soft and very easy to depress. It engages and shifts fine however I expected a stiffer feel. Also, should the clutch pedal sit at the same height as the brake pedal? Mine sits just a little lower. Does this all sound normal or do I need further adjustment? Thanks.
