Pair of 544's up for sale...SoCal 444-544

Not much going on here this week, is there? I had to go check to see if I was looking at the wrong month.

Does this mean everyone's cars are running perfectly??

Last Saturday I went to the Rotary Club's Car Show in Kernvill, CA (at Lake Isabella) and had a good time. As usual, I was swamped with curious people. Some remembered the old Volvo's - others didn't know that Volvo even made a car before the 1980's! All-in-all, I had a great time.

Just as I was loading up my electric wheelchair to come home, a guy came up and wanted to talk VOlvo's. Apparently he has TWO 544's, one with 'rust' that runs and drives great, the other was given to him without an engine, but a perfect body.

He said he recently got a DWI and so far was $18,000 into the fines, etc.

He's decided to find a good home for his cars, and was wondering if I'd like to buy them. No price was discussed, but I can't imagine the pair would go for more than a couple of hundered dollars.

I have his address and phone number, and I intend to stop by and look at the cars on my next trip over that direction.

If anyone is interested, I can take a bunch of pictures for you. If I had any space at all to spare, I'd buy both of them in a heartbeat!

Tonight our local car club (The High Desert Road Runners) is hosting our first Cruise In of the summer. We do this every second Saturday from 6 to 9 PM. This is a free cruise, but we give out awards and have a lot of fun, great raffle prizes, etc.

If anyone wants to come, feel free to drop me an e-mail. This would be a great time to visit Death Valley, the High Sierra's, Lake Tahoe, Reno, NV, etc. A real vacation all within a couple of hundred miles, so the gas cost wouldn't break you!
