Accessing the third brake light. S90-V90

My 97-960 sedan's rear window bulb is burned out. The manual says simply to use a screwdriver to release the catch. I can't see one or feel one. The unit is brittle and a small piece broke on the top when I held it firmly. I few tips please. I'd like to replace it without breaking the unit and having to replace it.
