Monroe lists a direct replacement for Nivomat rear shocks on the V90. Their part number is 40208, and I have confirmed that it is indeed available from auto parts suppliers (like Schuck's) and wholesalers. But it is pricey -- the wholesale price is a few bucks more than FCP Groton's price for a Nivomat, and the retail quote I got was about $400 each.
Has anyone out there had any experience with this shock, or know first-hand of someone who has? Is it worth the extra money? The original Nivomats on my V90 (168K) don't sag, seem to pass a bounce test, and still level out the car with a load on them, but the car feels like it wallows a bit and moves around on the suspension more than it used to. I like the self-leveling and don't really want to swap the spring and sway bars to fit standard shocks.
I've read good reports on the Sensa-Trac front struts on these cars on this forum, and hope I can get useful info on these rear shocks as well.
Thanks for any info.
