Help with reinstall of metal protector rings on 940 support bearing? 900 1995

1995 940 sedan, 170k miles, no turbo. Read FAQs, acquired new FCP Groton u-joints and center support bearing and rubber center bearing support.

Original center bearing was sealed but had removable metal bearing protector rings installed in front and rear of support housing. Reinstalled front protector ring and pressed bearing onto front shaft. No problem there, the front metal bearing protector ring fit snug into the support housing, and is secured in place against between the bearing and shaft shoulder.

BUT, upon installing REAR shaft spline into front shaft, the rear bearing protector ring is free to 'spin' around. The new support does not seem to have a retaining 'lip' or any way of securing the rear bearing protector ring.

The car runs fine, I marked the shafts, no vibrations, but upon deacceleration, can hear the rear protector ring spinning freely on the shaft, giving off a low screech, like my dentist is under the car with a tooth grinder.

Anyone with experience or advice, please post. thanks.
