Ghost in the machine?

Okay, so the 1984 760gle (B28F) has had trouble starting lately. Wanted to check if the coil was getting voltage, so while the wife was cranking the engine I went to touch the voltmeter to the coil/ground and as soon as I did the engine fired. Could be a fluke or perhaps...? Should I be looking for bad wiring/grounds? I know the A/C has a questionable ground wire but that shouldn't affect the ignition should it?
